La technique du Cliché verre, à mi-chemin entre la gravure et la photographie fut inventée dans les années 1850 par Constant Dutilleux et son gendre Charles Desavary.

One day when she found herself in a field, the glass artist, Pipaluk Lake saw three parachutists appear. This vision of the inflated parachutes in an upwards move whilst the power of gravity simultaneously pulled the men downwards, fascinated the artist. Since then, her pursuit has been to give form to these movements and opposing notions of elevation, lightness, suppleness.

Historians of twentieth-century science have not recorded the name of Jean Perdrizet for posterity. Perdrizet was originally a deputy civil engineer with the Bridges and Highways department before mental health issues forced him out of his career. He proved a fascinating figure for the many speculative thinkers and scientists he met, describing himself as an inventor.

A major figure in the development of painting in Ireland, where he settled in 1954, Barrie Cooke is attuned to Figurative Expressionists such as Soutine and Kokoschka, whose School for Seeing he attended in 1955. His work has always been guided by sensory experiences: he thus admits being revolted yet irresistibly attracted to the shocking beauty of polluted water.

Like him, street artists have the credit of denouncing the sudden and permanent destruction of his environment under the pretence of modernisation. Although recognised as one of the most emblematic artists of the Finnish genius at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Akseli Gallen-Kallela has never been the subject of a monographic exhibition in France. Yet he was closely linked with Paris: a pupil of the Académie Julian in the 1880s, he triumphed at the 1900 World Fair with the frescoes of the Finnish Pavillon.

On vivait selon la tradition de la transhumance, voyageant toute la durée de l’année, dormant à la belle étoile… L’industrialisation de l’élevage a mis fin à de ce style de vie. Dragos Lumpan et Gaëtan Rousselet ont capturé les dernieres traces de la transhumance en Europe.
