This retrospective — the first large scale exhibition devoted to Niki de Saint Phalle for twenty years — presents every aspect of this artist who was a painter, assembler, sculptor, engraver, performer and experimental cinematographer and profoundly revisits the way in which her work is understood.

The exhibition unites international artists with an interest in architecture and the processes of construction and destruction, as well as the accompanying regenerative processes which are expressed. It takes place under the auspices of the artist Gordon Matta-Clark, who became famous in the 70s thanks to his photographs of buildings which were abandoned.

“Impression, Sunrise”, the painting that gave the name to Impressionism and the flagship of the Musée Marmottan Monet is one of the most famous paintings in the world. The enigma of the history of this work has not yet had a comprehensive study. Instead, for nearly forty years, the mystery seems to grow around the masterpiece.

On the occasion of the “Terrains/vagues” exhibition, the artist Marceŀla Barceló presents a series of recent works representing suffering creatures and individuals. To the underlying psychic tensions respond real physical wounds, as so many threatening symbols of the dreadful influence of mankind on its peers and Nature.

As much by its etymology as by its very appearance in the exhibition space “Rancho Mirage” portrays itself as a fantasy, a destination rooted in chance, a meeting point determining the outlines of a shared dream.

“The main focus of “The Pale Fox” is obsessive curiosity, the irrepressible desire to affect things, to achieve goals, to perform actions, and the inevitable consequences.” — Camille Henrot

The Chapuisat brothers have drawn inspiration from the Maréchalerie’s significant structure in order to fill it with an invasive and massive structure. The visitor finds himself face to face with a house of cards in oak, a self-standing extreme sculpture which reveals the architectural forces at work in the space.

Tania Mouraud is a major figure in French contemporary art. Her art explored mostly human conditions. Like a paintbrush on canvas, Mouraud uses her camera to capture reality and make a statement. The bulldozers grinding through books at a frantic pace cannot help but call up other images of History in our collective memory.

Angelika Markul’s universe is interwoven with a dark poetry, at times serene, at times disturbing, which reconstitutes the earth’s texture and the brilliance of the stars. Conjuring and prophesying at the same time, the installations brings the beauty of astronomy to the viewer all while engaging the viewer in a post-humanist journey.

For its fourth consecutive season, the seminar of performances “Partitions (Performances)” focuses once more on its interest in hybrid forms of research and enquiry at the nexus of art and conference. How does a myth come to life? Which processes lead it to change? How does it help us understand the world today?
