In a white apparatus, an overexposed body. A naked silhouette, no chance of escaping our attention. A gendered relief of tensed flesh, establishing an image that is slowly covered by other images, like with much symbolic clothing. Latifa Laâbissi proffers a journey with this motif, loaded with points of contention and discordant designs.

The work of Alejandro Cesarco, a young Uruguayan artist living in New York, seems to be motivated throughout by the desire to transcribe a certain experience — feelings experienced during our existence, in particular our relation to the Other — and by a continual exploration of the means by which art might account for this experience.

In his works on paper, Tilman filters ideas and visual inspirations found and experienced on a daily base, exploring their possibilities and potential use in his artistic process. They could be seen as hybrids: transformed visual information, an archive of collected visual memories or autonomous work of art.

Under the greyness of Zhang Litao’s work, layers of covered and altered scenes of memory are hidden, with only a chaotic and absurd surface visible.

There is no imposed theme or material for this group exhibition which brings together fifteen artists from the gallery and three new artists to discover. The only constraint: the format. The idea is to take a stand against the monumentalization trend in contemporary art. The 12 x 12 exhibition pays homage to the small format.

This discussion with Nadia Beugré, Latifa Laâbissi, Volmir Cordeiro, Emmanuelle Chérel and Isabelle Launay deals with the specificity of the work of these artists from the dance world, the more concrete measures by which they implement complex and ambivalent gestures, the expression of a malaise and the tensions created through its contradictions.

The exhibition is the result of the artist’s recent sojourn in Italy, where the Nuove group gives artists in residence access to the historical and technical expertise of local companies and the materials and age-old traditions of Nove, a small town in the Veneto which has specialised in ceramics since the 17th century.

As an important figure of the Balkan arts scene, the work of Edi Hila has for the last 20 years bared witness to the profound changes experienced by societies in post communist Europe. The artist takes a look at both the ironic and benevolent aspects that form our quest for identity and need for recognition.

The online exhibition Vegetal Passion sees the exhibition space as the natural milieu of works of art. Deftly mixing plants and works of art, works that involve plants and “exhibition plants”, this curatorial project takes a new look at gardening practices in institutional settings, which is increasingly a part of today’s reality.

How much disintegration is caused by racism directed against individuals? How is it generated? How does it work in the private sphere and within social structures? While the social order brings its controlling influence to bear on subjects, they sometimes find a remedy in the desire that grows as they overcome their suffering.

Xpo gallery presents a book launch and an exhibition by Vincent Broquaire. Books usually frame reality as a narrative of cause and effect, so as you turn from page to page, you might have expected to find the development of an explanation. But Broquaire’s book offers no explanations, more mind puzzles instead.
