The Cairn, a centre d’art located in Digne-les-Bains in the Alps of Haute-Provence invite artists to create perennial works on the protected territory of Europe’s largest geological reserve. These creations are incorporated into the encyclopaedic collections of the Gassendi Museum, itself organised like a huge showcase of curiosities.

After Funambule and Olympia, landscapes are used as a pretext for this new exhibition, landscape of earth and water. While the Grandes Terres cleave to horizontality and to a linear infinity, les Chutes de mai introduce a verticality that defines space and gives birth to a new temporality.

Painter from the Orient of a thousand and one nights, Félix Ziem was a nomadic artist, indefinable and eccentric. This great traveller occupies an original place in the art of the 19th Century. After the successful retrospectives in Marseille, Martigues and Beaune, the Petit Palais presents around a hundred works from the Ziem donation.

Every week throughout 2013, 50 contemporary art centres will advance a hypothesis through the online magazine uncoupdedés.net (“un coup de dés” means “a roll of the dice”). The art centres are celebrating 30 years of cultural decentralisation through this online magazine, an open chronicle linked to their respective programmes.

The CAC Brétigny is pursuing its own collective experiment guided by the scores of the English composer, after having dedicated a retrospective to the “visionary” musician in 2009, which has since been presented across Europe. Matthew Saladin, in a text that one would like to read with its soundtrack, explains what is at stake in this social composition.

La maison rouge presents a major exhibition which addresses the relationship between artists and psychotropic drugs. Since the advent of humanity our ancestors have stumbled upon psychoactive substances. These encounters have led to mystical insights. Artists, constantly in search of their creative muse, could only be compelled to try out their effects.

Le Générateur is living dangerously, it isn’t new and it’s getting worse. A third carte blanche is given to recidivist Frédéric Lecomte: it is to the intrusion of a crazy epiphany that this vast place gives way. There will be an exhibition in every sense: risk-taking, knife edges, blades and depths.

In all cultures the tree symbolises life, its force, longevity, beauty and fecundity. This exposition fills the different spaces of the Collège des Bernardin — the nave, the old sacristy, the moat and the garden — and presents works which manifest the richness and complexity of this greatly symbolic subject.

The work of Mårten Medbo, one of the main contemporary Swedish ceramicists, continues to blur the lines between art, design and craft. His approach to glass and ceramics is unconventional, playing with the materials’ surface to surprizing effect.

Jaeger Bucher gallery presents fifteen recent sculptures by Paul Wallach wich invite us into the heart of geometry and its many spatiotemporal landscapes. Volumes in space as much as forms filled with space, his sculptures float weightlessly thanks to their skilfully modelled architectures and geometries.

The exhibition brings together graphic designers-artists around a single word: Aubamo. Aubamo is an anagram of Baouma, an Occitan word meaning Grotto and is also the homonym of “au bas mot” a French saying meaning the bare minimum.
